You’re in the perfect place if you enjoy outdoor pursuits like sailing, quad biking or pony trekking, and if you’re a keen walker, there’s everything from rugged mountain hikes to sedate lakeside strolls.

The heart of the property is the large, open plan kitchen and living space, with a wood burning stove and an Aga to keep you cosy and warm. Each of the bedrooms has its own en-suite room and there’s a sandstone patio for a spot of al fresco dining too. The downstairs is completely step-free, so Gill Beck Barn could be ideal for anyone with limited mobility.

The property is set just up the lane from the popular fellside village of Melmerby, with a lovely pub, a village shop and a tea room, as well as independent shops and an indoor pool.
